With the arrival of the millennium, classical singers, students and vocal historians have an unprecedented opportunity to explore and learn from the vast number of recordings made since 1900. Every month new CDs are released that highlight not only current artists but also those from previous eras. Due to the time advantage of the medium and the generally low cost, listeners are now able to amass a representative library.

Some of the most amazing and satisfying recordings made during the past 100 years have been those by singers who are commonly referred to as divas. This site is an ongoing project that will examine that art as experienced through the recording process.
